Qualifications
The successful candidate for this position should have:
- Three to five years of experience as a Food Service Director in a
multi-school district or comparable setting.
- The ability to implement creative marketing concepts in the schools
and develop a plan that promotes the school nutrition services to
students, parents, staff and the community.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Food Service Management, Dietary Science or other related field is preferred. Extensive food service managerial experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree. Professional Chef & RD credentialed preferred.
- Certification and/or credentialed with School Nutrition Association is
recommended but not required.
- Demonstrated ability to work as an effective leader.

Guilford Public School District is seeking a Food Service Director who can help
to move the food services forward in this high achieving and innovative
system. Candidates will be expected to:
• Think outside the "BOX"
•
Teach students about making healthy
food choices.
• Design
creative and exciting menu options that are healthy, nutritious, appetizing,
and aligned with all State guidelines.
•
Work collaboratively with cafeteria and
school staff to introduce new ideas.
• Leverage the resources of a community and
parent base that are committed to healthy foods and healthy decisions for their
children.
•
Expand healthy options in all school
menus.
•
Explore farm to school programs that
will introduce students to locally grown produce and provide fresh fruits and
vegetables for our school cafeterias.
• Partner with local garden club to develop a
school garden program.
•
Increase
participation in the lunch program by offering healthy and exciting options to
student customers.
•
Create a healthy
breakfast program.
•
Understand that the education of a
young person should be holistic in nature and nurture each child’s social,
emotional, and physical wellbeing.
The
individual selected for this position should see Food Service in a school
setting as integral to the educational mission of the schools themselves. Additionally, the successful candidate should
