Additional Information:

“Chefs Move to Schools has been a fantastic program in our schools since it was kicked off on the south lawn of the White House June 4, 2011. The chefs working with us in our schools have embraced the program and the kids love meeting with and learning from the chefs.” Chef Timothy Cipriano, Executive Director of Food Services, “We have adapted our version to include additional components surrounding farm to school, school gardens and promoting and serving items from those component on our salad bars.”

The Chefs Move to Schools program, administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), matches chefs with school districts to help schools improve health and nutrition that meet the schools’ dietary guidelines and budgets, while teaching young people about nutrition and making balanced and healthy choices. With more than 31 million children participating in the National School Lunch Program and more than 11 million participating in the National School Breakfast Program, good nutrition at school is more important than ever. http://www.letsmove.gov/chefs-move-schools
