Share Our Strength’s Taste of the Nation 2013 is seeking SPONSORS

Did you know that by the end of the year, nearly 17 million children in America will worry about when their next meal will come. That's nearly one in four who are at risk of hunger, and who have limited or uncertain access to the nutritious foods they need to develop to their full potential. Despite its devastating and highly visible consequences, childhood hunger is invisible. You can't see it just by looking, and you can't measure it in pounds, but it is among us: It affects black, white, Asian and Hispanic, short and tall, thin and chubby.

Working as Director of Food Services for Guilford Public Schools, I see these children, in Guilford Schools every day too. Childhood hunger does not know borders and has an effect on kids in each and every town in our country. 105,806 children under 18 years of age are food insecure in CT; with 24.2% of people in New Haven living below the poverty line. These are the children in our schools who rely on school meals for their ONLY nutrition of the day. Won’t you consider sharing your strength with us?

Share Our Strength’s Taste of the Nation is the nation’s premier culinary benefit dedicated to ending childhood hunger in America and is scheduled in New Haven for Wednesday May 22, 2013 at the Omni Hotel at Yale. We are putting together a great event and have lined up Jacques Pepin again as our Honorary Chef Chair. This is my fifth year as Chair and I am sad to report that the need continues to increase; BUT with the NO KID HUNGRY Connecticut Campaign to End Childhood Hunger in full effect and with you as a sponsor of this great event we hope to diminish the need and one day we will be able to divert our energy to another cause.

Last year we raised over $60K, while that is a good number, it pales in comparison to the potential that this event can raise. This year we hope to raise even more money to help put an end to this epidemic. I am asking for your support to help us raise the needed funds. Taste of the Nation presents an opportunity to target affluent, well-educated, charity-minded individuals. Cash and in-kind sponsorships underwrite all event costs. 100% of ticket sales help ensure that no kid goes hungry.

The event will be held in the Omni Hotel in downtown New Haven where great opportunities exist for top sponsors, including exclusive rooms, lounges, VIP areas, naming rights, and many more. We can work with you to develop a customized sponsorship package. With your support, we can help ensure no child in New Haven and across America grows up hungry.
